Maureen Bunyan

 

One of the nation's most respected and admired broadcast journalists, Maureen Bunyan has spent over a quarter of a century as a news anchor, reporter and public speaker.
She is the Co-Chair of the International Women's Media Foundation, a global network of women journalists. She is a founder of the National Association of Black Journalism, member of the boards of the National Press Foundation, the National Women's Hall of Fame, the Commission on Working Women and the Meyer Foundation. Maureen Bunyan was the winner of the 1990 Journalist of the Year award given by the National Association of Black Journalists. The recipient of several local Emmy Awards, Maureen Bunyan has earned a reputation as an expert speaker on news and journalism, on the role of women as leaders, and on international issues. For 22 years, she worked for the CBS affiliate, WUSA-TVs Eyewitness News, in Washington, D.C. with co-anchor Gordon Peterson.
Maureen Bunyan is the solo News Anchor on the 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. news on WJLA in Washington, DC.
