photoAgapi Stassinopoulos

Agapi Stassinopoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece.  At age 18, she entered the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, where she received the Ronson Award for best actress of the year. After drama school, Agapi became a member of the Young Vic in London.

She moved to the United States to do film and television, and later attended the University of Santa Monica where she took her master in psychology.

Doing the preparatory research for her sister Arianna Huffington, on a book about the Gods and Goddesses of Greece ignited Agapi's love of the gods and passion to do more work with them. From there, she developed a TV series called The Gods of Greece” for PBS with Adrian Malone, producer of The “Ascent of Man” and “Cosmos”.

Agapi appeared in the film Surviving Picasso with Anthony Hopkins and developed a motion picture on the story of Maria Callas, based on the best-selling biography, Maria Callas: the Woman Behind the Legend written by her sister.

She developed her own work around the Goddesses and was asked to present it at the Getty museum in Los Angeles around the antiquities. She was then asked to write the book on the subject called Conversations with the Goddesses which is now in its fourth printing. Her performance has been witnessed by audiences at the Getty Musuem in Los Angeles, the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC, the Soho Rep in New York City, and may colleges and universities around the country. Her presentation of the Goddesses was also produced by PBS and has aired nationwide.

Her new book Gods and Goddesses in Love: Making the Myth a Reality for You was published in August by Pocket Books of Simon and Schuster and has been translated into six languages. It deals with love and how the understanding of the Greek archetypes can help us in our personal relationships. With her insightful understanding and with her humor she stirs our imagination, enriching our understanding of ourselves and others. She brings the gods and their myths alive to us today.
